Welcome to the first of six of our ‘My House, My Home’ series, (a Lifestyle Furniture first) where we delve into the must-haves and have-nots of your home and provide you, our wonderful readers, with tips and tricks to get the most out of your space.

This short series will give you some inspo for transforming your house into a home as we join forces with some of our favourite Instagrammers to give you an insight into how they style their homes.

Kirsty from @Life_in_loggersheads_no_16 is our first ‘My House, My Homer' and it was a real pleasure getting to know how she has styled her stunning new-build and why it means so much to her and her growing family.

Kirsty loves her home, and it isn't hard to see why! A new-build brings the perfect opportunity for you to really make your mark on a blank canvas, inject some personal touches and throw in some personality to really make it your own.

"Our home means everything to me, I’ve always wanted a big family home and now I’ve got it..."

Kirsty shares her vibrant home with 'hubby Mitch and her daughter Grace' and wanted to create a space that they could all be proud of whilst supporting their daughter and making memories as the family grows. As so many of us with little ones know, creating a stylish and functional space can be challenging. Having a balance between the home of your dreams and a place that your little ones can enjoy is easier said than done, but we’re happy to report – Kirsty has really nailed this one. Every nook and cranny is meticulously planned and organised in order to reduce clutter and open up the space. We know you’ll love it as much as we do.

"I love greys and neutrals but a splash of colour just makes that much difference".

Kirsty's home certainly ticks all of our boxes- when you step through the emerald green doorway you enter a calm, considered but stylish space. Hints of monochromatic design peer through from the kitchen/diner at the end of the hallway and the neutral greys really help to frame the space. She points out that her home means everything to her, and you can certainly see why. She notes those subtle flashes of colour and soft furnishings which ooze style and provide the finishing touch to an inviting and often neglected part of the home. It's minimalistic, but very well considered – we’re with you on this one, Kirsty. It’s gorgeous!

Kirsty told us that she has lots of little personal touches around her home. "I love prints that mean things, and I have photos around the house everywhere you go as they mean the world". Creating a home is not just about a lick of paint and stylish furnishings, it’s all about being able to provide a place for your keepsakes and these can really help to accentuate any room with personal touches. It’s what makes your home unique to you and yours.

Kirsty has also gone one step further – by introducing a DIY spotted theme to various parts of the house, injecting some of her personality and bringing some life to areas that are traditionally harder to style and can be quite neutral; unique black speckles appear in both the hallway and spare bathroom. We think these are a cool, cost-effective addition and best of all, it is so easy to do, so even if DIY isn't really your thing, you can make a bold statement without having to pick up a paintbrush! Where do we sign up?

"My favourite room? Ahh, I can't pick!"

When asked what her favourite room in the house was, Kirsty couldn't quite make her mind up "Ahh, I cannot pick! I have two at the moment, the kitchen/diner and also love my dressing room" Well Kirsty, we think that’s a nice problem to have! For us here at Lifestyle Furniture, we have to say that the kitchen/diner is truly stunning, and we think you’ll agree.

The blue velvet dining chairs coupled with the imposing dining table really catch the eye, coupled with those clean black lines created by the three mirrors framing the back wall. This is a space you can enjoy, whilst also serving its key purpose of being a practical focal point of their home. Kirsty has mentioned she is thinking about adding a splash of colour to the back wall – and we can’t wait to see what she decides to do!

@Life_in_loggersheads_no_16’s Instagram page proves that you can put your own stamp on a new-build home. Having moved in less than a year ago, there was no stopping Kirsty putting her creative juices to work, and she has ensured the space supports their wants and needs.

"...from when I was a little girl I have dreamt of a dressing room"

Kirsty has always dreamt of having a dressing room; somewhere to get yourself ready for the day and (hopefully!) one day soon – the perfect place to get yourself ready for a night out and turn on the glam! There’s everything a Queen (or a King!) would need here- an opulent mirror takes centre stage, with other luxurious furnishings to really turn on the style. "It also features your gorgeous Monroe tallboy drawers which have made the room complete!" Well, we have to admit, we're pleased that we could add something to this fabulous vibe, and although we’re biased – we think they look right at home!

Although her home is looking as good as it is, when asked about future plans Kirsty isn't finished just yet and is always on the look-out for inspiration and the next hottest trend. "Yes, I am having 2 walls wallpapered soon, one in the living room and one in the master bedroom which I’m excited about, we need to sort the 4th bedroom out to as that is just storage at the moment, need to do some things to the garden to at some point but other than that no major renovations, that is the plus side of having a new build!" It sounds like it's all systems go in the @Life_in_loggersheads_no_16 house! We hope you’ll have us back when you’re done <3

"I love seeing everyone's different styles on Instagram and getting inspired by them."

So, just how does Kirsty think of all of these wonderful ideas? Well, she's just like so many of us... Instagram! She says, "I love seeing everyone’s different styles on Instagram and getting inspired from them" and we couldn’t agree more – Instagram provides a great platform to share inspiration with like-minded people and we at Lifestyle Furniture love that we can interact one-to-one with our customers – and also get some great ideas on our next furniture range, so watch this space!

So, what do you think about @Life_in_loggersheads_no_16’s home? Has it given you some much-needed inspo to shower your home with love and a touch of style? Thank you for having us, Kirsty. We can’t wait to see what’s next.
