Tips for Decorating a Bedroom

Your bedroom is one of the most important rooms in the house, and decorating a bedroom is perhaps the most challenging room to decorate. Most of your time spent at home will be within the bedroom area. So, getting the look just right is an important task. You should aim for a room that brings a relaxing feel. After all, you are going to be asleep in this room for long periods. Go for colours that will bring a calming feel to your room allowing you to sleep with ease.

1. Choose a Colour

The choice of colour in a bedroom is the most important part of decorating your bedroom. Firstly, like any room, once you’ve chosen a colour or theme you can let your creativity run wild so you can fill it with furniture that goes with the colour scheme. Secondly, choosing a colour for your bedroom needs to be restful and soothing. Encouraging you to fall into a restful sleep. So, what colours do we suggest in order to create a room that brings a calming touch to your bedroom? Colours can evoke a wide range of feelings in us, which means certain colours can make you more or less anxious. Which means when decorating your bedroom, you have to bear this in mind. When looking at a colour palette find colours that calm you, doing this gives an indication to the colours you should choose. We suggest colours like; blue, grey and greens. Each of these colours tends to draw different reactions, but a common theme is one of tranquillity. Blue is thought to be calm and peaceful so light blue painted walls like the image below are sure to make you relax as you doze off to sleep.

If a blue theme isn’t your thing then maybe a light green hue would look perfect in your bedroom. There are plenty of shades to choose from, you can go for green like the image below which brings a natural look to your bedroom. The outdoors is said to bring a relaxing and calming influence on you, so why not bring the outdoors in with this green hue.

Finally, a grey colour can bring a cool and modern touch to your bedroom. Grey is on-trend and is sure to bring a sophisticated touch to your bedroom. Grey can bring a cosy feel to a bedroom, so going to sleep won’t be a problem. A grey painted wall will essentially act as a blank canvas so choosing furniture for your room is fuss-free.

2. Simplicity

Don’t overdo it. Keep your room clutter-free and only have necessary items that are the right size (more about this lower down). Design your room with only the must-have items in mind, think about the things you’ll need, like a bed, bedside table a chest of drawers and a chair. Anything more than this will make your room feel cluttered.

Ensure you leave enough space in your bedroom to be able to freely move around, we suggest at least three feet of space to allow for easy movement. Stowaway accessories within a dresser or bedside table to keep your room looking tidy. Add bold pieces of artwork on the wall that will bring splashes of colour.

3. Furniture Size

Measure your space to gather an idea of the number of items you’ll need for your room. You’ll probably be able to visualise the items you’ll need and where you want them to go. Like most furniture websites we put all of our dimensions on our product pages so you can work out the right size of furniture for your room.

4. Storage Units
